Pink Hair?

My 12 (almost 13) year old niece wants to get her hair semipermanetly streaked hot pink for the last day of school and the summer but gone before next school year begins. She wants to know if she should and if anyone has done it before or knows someone who has. She also wants to know how it looked and how much it cost. her parents are fine with it. What do you think?

If her hair is brown she has to use bleach first so this not only would damage part of her hair, but will cost a lot more, ther's no way she can get a nice pink over her virgin hair, it will only come up looking a funky red. So if she really wants to do it she should enjoy it for some time. I've had my hair pink and it looked great it's my favourite color, but it takes a lot of maintenance. It will cost about 120 dollars to get it done in a beauty salon and she will have to buy a 25 dolla bottle of the pink for re-touches, plus a good conditioner because after bleaching hair tends to get rough. Good Luck!

Pink Hair?

i had my hair pink through eighth grade. i think it would look fine, you can buy pink dye at any store. it's semi-permanant and pretty cheap. depending on how much hair she has, it wouldn't be more than 15 bucks and she could do it herself, it's got instructions and everything.

Pink Hair?

I think that it would be really cute with not chunky streaks

just subtle skinny streaks of pink

I have similar hair and have often wanted to do that

let me know how it works out\

if she is dark eyebrowed and dark eyes

perhaps like a darker pink instead of a bright pink

I had pink hair. It looks great! Adds a little creativeness you know. It's rather cheap if you buy it froma drug store. and it lasts a while. make sure it isn't overly done or it will make her hair strange. streaks are streaks, not big blotches, or chunks. otherwise her hair will be sorta overwhelmed.

Unless someone in the family knows anything about dyeing hair, I would suggest finding a professional to do it.

Depending on how bright she wants the streaks to be, with medium brown hair to start with, the portions of the hair to be streaked, will have to be bleached first (sort of like getting highlights). Then the color can be done and it will be nice and bright. If you dye over the brown, it will be questionable as to whether the color will show and if it does, what color it actually shows to be.

Again, seek professional assistance on this one.

Unfortunetly, there's no such thing as semi permanent if you have dark hair.

In order to achieve a pink color, you first have bleach your hair then add some sort of dye over it.

However, this really isnt such a big deal--it's pretty easy to do and come fall all you have to do is dye over the bleached streaks, and eventually all of it will grow out.

I'd recommend Special Effects--it tends to come out the most vibrant and lasts a long time.

if you want it to show, and you don't want to use spray, you're going to have to bleach it unfortunately. I am a blond, and when I tried to do pink, it didn't show.

However, manic panic is a decent brand of fun semipermanent colors, and last time I bought some it was only like 6 bucks. It lasts for 15-20 washes.

Pink Hair?

It depends on what shade of pink she wants. If its a light pink her hair will have to be lightened first, then dyed. At the salon I work at fashion foils are $5 a foil, partial foils are $ 70, and full head foils are $ 90. I've done pink streaked hair and its cute.

Good Luck!!!!!

Pink Hair?

you can do it. look hot

COLOR PULSE ALL OVER! I dyed my hair like red streaks and came out within 2months. You can find it at Walmart. It is not expensive, it works awesome!
