Wanting to dye my hair pink - need some advice!?

Just need some help... i'm considering streaking my hair pink for the first time... but my friend said because i have dark brown hair it won't come out properly. She suggested bleaching it before but i'm worried the pink will go fluorescent. Is bleaching a good idea? And, also.. has anyone got a good site with hair dying tips for future reference?

yeah, my sister bleached her hair to apply a turquiose to the back of her hair and its awesomem her hair is also drak brown. It wont be too bright.

Bleaching will keep the colour in too. But it can also dry hair out.

bleaching is the ONLY way you will get your hair pink, unless you are already blonde. BUT i would really reccommend going to a stylist to do it the first time. Then they can take your hair to the blonde it needs and the pink will look awesome instead of a pinky orange......good luck!

to dye your hair pink you will need to pre bleach it as it wont take on brown hair. depending on the colour of pink you want the lighter you need to pre bleach eg light pink -- light blonde

also you will need a correct colour of pink test your pink hair dye on a piece of white paper

DYEING YOR HAIR PINK IS A DEFINATE NO..THAT WAS ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO..I DEFINATELY DO NOT THINK U SHOULD DYE UR WHOLE HEAD PINK..MAYBE THE UNDERNEATH OR EVEN JUST THE ENDS, BUT NOT THE WHOLE HEAD!

Yes, I agree with others. you will need to go to a stylist to get it pink. Otherwise you will not be happy with it.

They will first bleach the sections then apply the pink tint. It will be so much better to go to a salon. I have tried to do this at home and it turned out horrible!!!

Yes, you must bleach it for a pink. If you don't it will create a DARK DARK barely visible maroon tone. So, hun, bleach it white. Go to manicpanic.com for instructions and get your pink dye from there, the ones that last 30% longer ($14.99) Manic panic is the BEST funky color dye out there today. (It's not tested on animals, and lasts a long time)

You will have to rebleach and redye roots for keepup, and some of the pink will come out, but buy TWO jars and re-apply every month or so, so you don't get that pastel pink!

Don't worry about going to a salon, this is a simple task. Don't leave it in for only 15 minutes, leave it in for 8 hours for better results (Manic panic is a conditioner) It won't destroy or damage your hair

Here are some other tips:

Use tinfoil to separate bleached and dyed hair

Bleach with manic panic lightening whitening plus kit

Have someone help you for the back of your hair

Don't go all the way to your roots with bleach or pink (so hair can grow out and doesn't look funny)

Add a teaspoon of pink to a large conditioner, it won't turn your natural hair to anything but will help inhance the pink color.
