Dying my hair cotton candy pink, any tips?

So, I'm going to the Anime convention in two weeks, and I'm being someone with pink hair. Maybe you know her, Sakura Haruno from Naruto? Anyway, I need ways(or places) to go about dying my hair for under $30. Any ideas?

dying your hair pink is really cool. But if you want dye your head blonde and thats if you dont have it blonde already then put in highlights to make it look awsome of you can even dye it black with pink! You will look Hot.

Get Manic Panic hair dye for $9 bucks and do it yourself and it will be just has good... That's the best dye for colors like that... Also use vasiline around your ears and hairline to stop from dying your skin...

are u sure u want to dye it cotton candy pink... i mean, it might last for quite a while if u get the permanent ones... either try a temporary one or get ur hair sprayed with a metallic hair colour spray... (the normal type makes ur hair hard)... the anime conventions that ive been to, the cosplayers usually spray their hair that way...

You can get pink hairdye at Hot Topic but if you have dark hair you have to bleach it first and they have the bleach there too.

If you are going for pink you will have to have your hair bleached out. That will do a lot of damage to your hair, making it very weak and brittle. You can use those temporary sprays in a can but they make a mess and won't be as vibrant. A reputable hair salon may charge you anywhere from $50 - $100. Bleaching hair is a double process and can at times be time consuming depending on your hair type and color. If you don't mind the damage to your hair or if you plan on cutting your hair short then go for it. If not, know that your hair will be fried after the bleaching. And it hurts. You will have to have the bleach on your head for a while, depending on how dark you hair is, they may have to make a 2nd application if your hair is dark. And then after they rinse the bleach off, your scalp will be very tender, sores are possible, %26amp; some ouuzzing, then scabs. After they rinse the bleach out they will apply the pink or cotton candy color you choose. Because your scalp will be tender this may hurt.

I bleached my hair twice. Once because I was curious, 2nd because I liked it and the black roots grew out really quick. Not a good look. After the pain of the 2nd time, I knew I'd never do it again.

Good luck.

Unless you're platinum blonde, you're probably going to have to bleach it first if you want the colour to be bright.

I don't think you're going to be able to afford a professional dye job for under $30 (unless maybe you let hairdressing students from some beauty school experiment on your head?)

If you do it at home, get a brand suggestion from someone who's dyed their hair pink before and had it turn out well. I've done it twice with 2 different brands of dye, and both times I had pink stuff coming off on everything I touched for weeks even though I followed the directions and even after I washed and washed and washed my hair.
