Red hair dye + Pool = Pink water?

I hope this isn't true as I enrolled to do a Lifeguard course next month.

Due to the amount of water contained in a pool it will be very hard to notice any color changes in the water. If you used a temporary dye make sure you find the same shade in a permanent dye and apply it to your hair... this will avoid a noticeable color change.

Your hair will more than likely turn lighter after persistent chlorine and sun exposure and it will loose much of it moisture.

To avoid drastic changes you should wet your hair with tap water before exposing it to the chlorine water it will not soak up as much of the chemicals, because the hair strands are already wet.

To help you keep your natural moisture you should use a creamy conditioner, olive oil is very helpful in this kind of situations...

Best of Luck !

it is true for some people

if you have had your hair dyed for more than a week and then wash your hair afterward it should be fine

be careful, it may result in more than just pink water, you may wind up with pink hair!!

I have heard this can happen. I think you should get a swim cap for next month as a precaution.

If you've JUST dyed your hair and jump in a heavily chlorinated pool, you might have problems. But if you've washed your hair many times since dying it and you're at the point where not a ton of dye comes out when you shampoo, then you should be okay. I swam in chlorine pools when i had my hair dyed red, and I never had a pool of pink water around me.

might look like that.

In my experience, a lot of red washes out the first few times you shower, but after that it's fine.

Idk, just make a test, fill a glass with water, and a teaspoon of bleach (similar to what they use in swiming pools), and leave a strand of your hair in it for 30 minutes, then see if something has changed to your hair or the water.
